Sex Apps Banned by Apple.com

Tuesday, February 23, 2010, 11:52:58 AM

Apple.com has begun to remove and ban many applications from its iPhone that feature any material which include photos of women in bikinis and lingerie.

The move came after Apple was receiving complaints from parents who were worried about what their children were able to download and see, as well as a lot of complaints from women who felt that the content was becoming too degrading and objectionable.

Apple’s decision to remove such apps is to clean up its image. When the iPad is due for release, its mainstream audience will be families and used as an educational tool within schools. That could be made a lot harder if the catalog of programs available for it is cluttered with racy applications.

Many companies that were creating these apps are now having to find alternative means to sell their products, such as using Google’s Android.
