Google, www.google.com is now an ICANN-accredited registrar of domain names. The hugely popular and resourceful search engine is approved to sell names in seven top-level domains (TLDs) including .com, .net, .org, .biz, info, .name and .pro.
Googles registrar status, first noted by LexText, is beginning to spark speculation regarding their next move. Will they move into the web hosting market? Google already operates a free blog hosting service, blogger.

Combining the already operating free blogger service and now, domain registration would be a potentially lucrative market. Alongside its Beta services, such as Gmail and Google News there are many avenues for expansion.
Domain Name registration process are quite often used as a marketing tools to gain customers by Web Hosts. They can offer domain cheap domain registration to entice customers to use their Web Hosting services. Some of the larger Web Hosting companies offer domains as low as $3.95 even though they are not accredited registrars, they work on a reseller basis.
